Trim-a-tree dip, Disgusting Food Museum, Malmo, Sweden

Mix up cream cheese, cheddar and blue cheeses, Worcestershire sauce, and minced onion, chill the mixture and shape it into a Christmas tree. Perhaps it’s not that disgusting, but then it’s one of the tamer items in the Disgusting Food Museum, a pioneering institution dedicated to challenging perceptions of food and exploring the vast diversity of global culinary practices. Rather than simply being a place to gawp at gruesome entrails, they’ve opted instead to address the critical challenges facing our food systems today. The museum’s mission is “to educate and inspire individuals to embrace new and climate-positive protein alternatives such as insects, lab-grown meat, and algae.” It might make you squeamish, but by fostering awareness and driving change, the museum aims to reduce the environmental impact of food production and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable planet.
