Sometimes museum labels tell us much more when they write less. In just three words, the curator has left the visitor with more questions than answers – and I’m all for that, from time to time. Visitors don’t need spoon-feeding at every step of the way and if you can make them smile, then even better.
This display is from the old Hull Maritime Museum layout, before it closed for refurbishment. I really hope they retain the incongruity and infectious delight of this display when it reopens in 2025.
