Submarine museums tend to focus on the insides – the cramped conditions, life on board, the mystery of long hours in the deep seas and the loneliness of the submariner. Not so at this museum, where the outside of the X51 submarine becomes the focus of the experience.
The Scottish Submarine Centre projects a contextual story of her service on huge screens that surround the boat, and also directly onto the submarine as well, encouraging us to look at the submarine from all angles, instead of simply as a submersible vessel.
