This is just one work from one the newest art galleries in Europe, due to open in the Spring (pandemic permitting). Over the last 40 years, Helga de Alvear has collected one of Spain’s most significant private collections of international contemporary art and she intends to share it with us all in her recently revamped and refurbished site.
The new building is sited on an imaginary line that separates the medieval historic centre of the town of Cáceres, a World Heritage Site, from the modern part of the city. Perhaps that creates some sort of a route between past and present – or perhaps it’s just a good spot for an art gallery. Either way, I’m looking forward to visiting.
