Oh, what you've done to my heart!
It might not be a classic Valentine card image, but this example from the mid-1900s of a steamroller ploughing its way over a heart is, I believe, quite brilliant.
It’s just one example from the super collection of romantic, and sometimes not so romantic, cards at the Vintage Valentine Museum – a carefully curated online place that allows us to step into visual realms of the past, in this case from the 1940s or 50s.
It’s not the only example featuring construction trucks, and there are pages dedicated to the ever-romantic themes of deep-sea divers, wheelbarrows and aliens.
