Agricultural museum collections are full of objects with splendid names. You’ll have heard of a wim-wom already, of course. (Just in case you want a refresher, it’s a hand cart with a large bobbin on top, to facilitate putting up the hop bine wires, of course.)
Other unusual implements in the collection include an extremely heavyweight box wagon with straked and tyred wheels, stripped down for the transportation of hop pockets, an ‘alley bodge’ used to deliver manure between the rows of hop plants.
