Whether this is the smallest window in England or not is debatable. But until anyone tells me otherwise, I’ll believe it’s this one, as claimed by the proprietors of The George Hotel. The story goes that a lad could wait in the yard, peering through the window, to see when guests were arriving and then open the gate. Whether that’s true or not is also debatable, but it makes for a cutesy story.
You’ll find the pub on a small street called ‘The Land of Green Ginger’ which is also delightfully poetic.
